Restoration

Restoration of ceramic sculpture at Bakkegårdsskolen.

Restoration of ceramic works is a difficult discipline, but I am frequently asked, and have also done restoration work.

On a smaller scale.

But in 2017 I was given a major restoration task by the Municipality of Gentofte to restore a ceramic sculpture at Bakkegårdsskolen.

It was made in 1960 and has been unprotected since.

Here is some pictures of the LION before and after.

Restoration of the "Sculpture Garden" - the suburb of Gentofte Town Hall

The two large stoneware figures in white, blue and red-brown glazes are thought by Allan Schmidt (1923-1989) as nature's own primordial force.

The monumental, abstract figures are shaped like organic creatures lined with ca. 500 hard-burned stoneware tiles, which were carried out in collaboration with the Royal Porcelain Factory.

The work was erected in connection with the building of the south wing of the town hall 1976 - 77.
